Cluster of General Engineering
The General Engineering Cluster is an open association primarily of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the engineering and IT sectors, creating an environment that supports the business development and innovation activities of its members as well as other cooperating companies.
The General Engineering Cluster currently brings together 40 engineering companies, IT and automation firms, colleges, universities, and other research and development institutions cooperating within the cluster framework.
The cluster was established in 2008 with the mission to support innovation and enhance the competitiveness of the members of the General Engineering Cluster, primarily through the introduction of technological and process innovations in engineering, the systematic development of human resources, and the creation of interdisciplinary relationships relevant to engineering fields.
The objective of joint cluster projects is to enable the cluster and its members to more effectively integrate Industry 4.0 technologies in the development, testing, and operation of industrial automation equipment. A key priority of the cluster is its strong emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach to innovation and the promotion of innovation through cross-sector cooperation.

Collective research and development – implementation of joint R&D projects in cooperation with partner universities and research and development organisations
Shared services centres
- Operation of a specialised facility – the Prototype Testing Laboratory
- Provision of additional development infrastructure capacities of the cluster
- Delivery of development services for cluster members as well as other engineering companies
