Technology Centre Prague - Bioeconomic atlas NCA, Czech clusters and their members

Novinka

Technology Centre Prague contributed to the Bioeconomic Atlas NCA. The atlas was created thanks to the projects DanuBioValNet (01/17-06/19) and GoDanuBio (07/20-12/22), co-financed by the INTERREG DANUBE programme.

Technology Centre Prague

Technology Centre Prague (TC) was established in 1994 as a non-profit interest association of legal entities. The members of the association are the Institute of Physics, Institute of Microbiology, Institute of Chemical Processes, Institute of Plasma Physics, Institute of Molecular Genetics and Technology Management, s. r. o.

TC provides services for the involvement of Czech research in the European Research Area, supports strategic decision-making in research and innovation, the development of Czech innovative companies and international technology transfer. Since 2012, TC has been a member of the National Cluster Association.

The Technology Centre's services are provided across all sectors, with an emphasis on current topics, including the bioeconomy. The National Information Centre for European Research (NICER) department of NICER provides a wide range of services as described below. The Business Development Department (BDD) helps with orientation in Czech and foreign programmes and with the preparation of project applications, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, and offers consultations with its experts. The international dimension of the services provided and the connection to foreign markets in more than 60 countries is ensured by TC through the international Enterprise Europe Network, which it has been coordinating in the Czech Republic since 2008. On the EEN website, interested parties can find useful information and invitations to events such as B2B cooperation meetings, trade fairs, expert workshops/webinars focusing on bioeconomy and sustainable development or consultations with our specialists (innovative technologies, foreign cooperation).

Through the National Information Centre for European Research (NICER), the TC provides comprehensive services to those interested in participating in international cooperation projects in research and innovation, especially in the Horizon Europe programmes.

Support for the bioeconomy is included in Horizon Europe under the thematic group Cluster 6, which has a budget of €8.9 billion for the period 2021-2027: "Food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment". Cluster 6 is thematically and financially linked to the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), a joint venture between the European Commission and the Bio-based Industries Consortium with a total budget of €2 billion. The aim of this partnership is to support activities in the field of bioeconomy development and to help solve technological, market and regulatory challenges of the bioeconomy sector, which are defined in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) of CBE JU.

The calls for projects in both Cluster 6 and CBE JU are open to research teams from research organisations, universities, the corporate sector, interest associations and civil society. Among the Czech organisations that have already successfully participated in European projects in the field of bioeconomy, we can find e.g. the University of South Bohemia (Power4Bio), CEITEC (CELEBio), the Czech University of Agriculture (Climb-Forest, CEE2ACT, Opt FORESTS), the Institute for Forest Ecosystem Research s. r.o. (ForestNavigator), Agricultural Research s.r.o. (Shaping-Bio, BioGov.net, RuralBioUp), Institute of Global Change Research v.v.i. (Climb-Forest) or BioEast hub CR, z.u. (BIOTRANSFORM).

NICER operates the national Horizon Europe portal, which provides a comprehensive overview of current opportunities, including an overview of information and training events and links to national contact points for Horizon Europe.

NICER contact persons are Ing. Nada Konickova (konickova@tc.cz) and Mgr. Jana Cejkova (cejkova@tc.cz).
