Special Optical Fibres for Fibre Lasers and Sensors
The Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences operates research infrastructure dedicated to fibre laser and optical fibre technologies. At the exhibition, you will see a thulium-doped fibre laser and a hollow-core fibre.
The main activities of ÚFE include fundamental and applied research in the fields of photonics, optoelectronics, and electronics, complemented by metrology, education, and public outreach.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE INSTITUTE OF PHOTONICS AND ELECTRONICS OF THE CZECH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES
EXHIBITS
1. Thulium-Doped Fibre Laser A 50 W thulium-doped fibre laser designed for testing plastic processing. The laser prototype was developed at ÚFE as part of the LasApp project, which aims to develop a centre of scientific excellence and competence in laser technology with a focus on fibre and thin-disk lasers and their potential applications. The active fibres for the laser were also manufactured at ÚFE.
2. Hollow-Core Fibre A hollow-core fibre designed to reduce the risk of communication interception by reflectometric sensor systems. The fibre was developed as part of the Ministry of the Interior project “Research on the Sensitivity of Hollow Optical Fibres to Acoustic Spectrum Waves.”
MEMBERSHIP IN THE CZECH OPTICAL CLUSTER z. s.
The Czech Optical Cluster z. s. facilitates partner matchmaking and the promotion of research results, for example at exhibitions and trade fairs. The exhibits were created for Laser World of Photonics 2025, the world’s largest trade fair for lasers and photonics, held in Munich. Participation in this fair was organised for members by the Czech Optical Cluster.
